Make A Photo Reminder List

Carry a reminder list
Sometimes when you are just starting out in macro, it is hard to keep track of all the things to do when you set up your shot. Here are a few things you can write down and carry with you into the field as reminders.
Always check your settings before you shoot.
* Check to see if you have set the correct white balance.
* Check to see if you have set the correct ISO.
When shooting a flower or bug, always position your camera angle toward the least distracting background.
Find the camera view with the background as far away from the subject as possible to help blur the background.
After you have framed the subject, search out any distractions in the background and eliminate them or change the camera angle.
Watch the edges of the frame for any distracting objects creeping into the frame.
Use diffuser to eliminate any harsh lighting from overhead.
Use reflector to add light in dark areas.
Set your f-stop,
*Smaller number – Smaller amount of focus
*Larger number – Larger amount of focus
Look for subjects with, contrast, textures, interesting lines, special lighting.
Before you shoot, think are you just documenting this subject or creating art.
Maybe you can come up with some of your own things to remember when out in the field.

Even better idea is to type it out on your computer, print and trim to smaller size and have it laminated.
