Another Method to Create Blurred Backgrounds

Posted: May 23, 2017 in Uncategorized
A couple days ago I showed you how to create backgrounds to place behind your flowers when shooting in the house or out in the field see here.  Mike Nelson sent me an email saying we can create the blur in photoshop.  Just take one of your photos and use the Gaussian Blur filter and take the slider all the way to the right and it will blur out the subject.

I would love to see a step-by-step tutorial on how to use this method. I have tried Gaussian blur and it just came out as a mess.

    Duh.

actually, Mike, you do not have to slide the slider all the way–just as you did in your creating backgrounds video, you can create any desired amount of blurred from just a little to completely blurred, depending on the effect you want…photoshop previews all the settings, so it is easy to dial in the desired amount

in your case, it would be a great way to repurpose your repository of flower photographs

    cheers

    Mike
