  1. Mike, I agree with your choice of tripod but for a head I use a Manfrotto 3265. Now discontinued I believe but it’s one-handed operation makes it very easy to use under difficult conditions.

      Tom, if you referring to a pistol grip style, they concept of this style is good, but most people I have have run into with these heads have a problem with the camera sagging when shooting downward, even after making adjustments in the tension control, so I haven’t been to impressed with those heads, but they my improve them in the future.

      • The only time i’ve seen one of these heads sag is when the user has a heavy lens and the lens does not have a tripod collar on it. If the camera and lens combination is properly balanced sagging is rarely a problem. But mine never sags and i would never replace it with anything else.
