If you have ever taken a photo workshop or read a blog from a photo instructor, you may have heard them talk about the rules of composition. They will teach that you should learn the rules first, but then as you become a better photographer you can start breaking some rules and shoot outside of the box.
When I set up my compositions, I generally compose inside of the box using all the rules I can.
Why do I do this?
Because the rules work.
The rules have stood the test of time and are still in place.
I don’t want to mess with a good recipe, and it’s worked fine for me so far.
