Happy knees

Posted: July 13, 2015 in Uncategorized
As macro photographers we spend a lot of time on our knees shooting. Sometimes the ground is hard with little stones and sticks that dig into our knees, or it may be wet and muddy. In either case keep your knees happy by using knee pads. Once you use them you will never want to be out shooting again without them.
Just go to your local Home Depot or what ever home improvement store is near by and pick up a pair, even the cheap ones work fine. I have a pair of cheap foam pads that have velcro straps that wraps around your leg and holds in place.

An options for the ladies – as a photographer and a gardener – I recommend the garden pants with knee pad pockets by Duluth Trading company. The pants are great and can be worn by themselves or slipped over other jeans. The knee pad pockets are the absolute best – you NEVER have to adjust straps or have the straps bite into the back of your knees. http://women.duluthtrading.com/store/product/womens-non-stop-ripstop-pants-85701.aspx?p_redirect=1&p_keyword=garden%20pants%20knee%20pads&p_origin=SiteSearchResults

Harbor Freight has the best pair for macro shooting. They are a little longer and not as bulky…plus they are extremely light weight. I keep them flat in my defuse pouch so I never forget them.
