Seven Ponds Nature Center has limited short distant parking available, so riding with your “photo buddies” is both helpful and greatly appreciated. The on-site parking area will open at 9:30 AM, so plan ahead to arrive in a timely fashion.Plan your Route -arrive on time

Subject Elements & Composition Techniques  w/ outdoor lab

A well designed composition accommodates the intended subject. To design such a composition can involve many elements.  These elements can often be common objects such as natural lighting, shadows, color, shapes, textures, and many other potential objects that are in the vicinity of the subject. In this class we will examine compositional techniques and how subject elements , when used in conjunction with those techniques, can help to highlight the subject.

Ever tried to shoot an image of the moon, only to get an image that is just a white blob with no definition?  Or how about fireworks that are mostly white, dull, and drab?  Maybe you wanted to get a city skyline, but it was just not what you saw?  We will tackle each of these situations and much more.For those who have tried to shoot in low light and want to share an image, you may send an image to me ahead of time, and I will try to include a few of them, and we will discuss what you did right and what you could have done to help the image to be the masterpiece that you were looking for.  Please send your image to Kelly@nikonkelly.com

Most macro photographers struggle with depth of field and understanding f/stops. We will cover different styles of macro and how to make the depth of field work for each style.

I have been very fortunate to have had many of my macro photographs published in major photo magazines, win photo contests, and lots of success at selling my images through art shows. From these experiences it has helped me to understand what makes a successful photograph, and in this session I will pass on this information to you.
