Daily Macro View

Well this morning I’m off to the Nashville, TN area for this weekends Macro Boot Camp.  Had a great time in the St Louis area, and wanted to let you know about a fantastic place to shoot, it’s the Missouri Botanical Gardens. 79 acres of flowers and plant life.  Very well designed and laid out, and just an amazing amount of subject matter to get great shots.  If you are every in the St Louis area be sure to check it out.

My presentation last night for the St Louis Camera Club was called Macro Photography – Beyond Flowers and Bugs.  As you can see with the images below, I had no problem finding interesting subjects to shoot other than flowers at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, and this was just in about two and a half hours, as it got to the upper 90s in temperature and gave up in the heat.  Flowers are great subject but expand your thinking when shooting in locations like this.

Mike, these are beautiful shots. Oddly, my favorite in this group is the one of the bricks. I have been trying to capture something like this for some time. I will renew my search and consider using some of my new Topaz processing tools.
