Video – How To Build My Wind Box For Flower Photography

Posted: March 30, 2011 in Uncategorized

Since I designed the plexiglas wind box a couple years ago for flower photography, I’ve told people I would some day video how to build one. In my Macro Boot Camp last weekend in Boston I finally got it done.

    Thanks. So clear and easy.

  3. […] Mike Moats over at Tiny Landscapes has come up with an ingenious little wind box that can be used to wrap around your subjects in the field. This wind box is made from cheap Plexiglas and Gorilla Tape (stronger version of duct tape). It literally takes around 15 minutes to build. When not being used, it collapses flat for easy storage and carrying. You can find a link to Mike’s 14 minute build video here: Mike Moats Wind Box Build Video […]

Mike, Just a quick note to thank you for this article. I built an A2-sized wind box earlier this year after seeing your video and used it to photograph the poppy image that subsequently picked up a finalist award in this year’s IGPOTY Macro Art Project. Great blog – essential weekend reading…. Thanks again.

    • Mike Moats says:

Hey Peter, congrats on the award, and glad to hear that the wind box had helped make that shot happen. Wind is the one big problem for macro photographers, it keep us from shooting to many days, but those of us with wind boxes can keep on shooting. Thanks for the note on your success.
